The arts are a crucial part of every child’s education and it is through your support that we hope to raise funds to have an art and music program for our children in the 2013-2014 school year. We do not require annual membership. We are simply seeking donations which will go directly to provide an art and music program at all of the Valley Central Elementary Schools.

Vision - What we want to accomplish:
We seek to restore, and then enhance, art and music exposure and instruction in the Valley Central School District Elementary Schools, during the regular school day with certified teachers through hometown-grassroots activism. Once these programs are restored, our purpose will then be to supplement and enhance existing art and music programs.
Rationale – Why we want to accomplish our mission:
We believe that exposure and instruction in art and music is essential to providing a well-rounded education for the children of our school district. We are united in our support of art and music education as a foundation for critical thinking, cultural enrichment, and academic, social and emotional development. It has been consistently shown that art and music not only have a positive impact on brain development, but also in successful test scoring, study habits, and an overall interest in school; students become tenacious, team-orientated problem solvers who are confident and able to think creatively. Art and music provide an opportunity for students to engage in a creative and emotional outlet that supports academic learning, as they involve listening, questioning, creating, performing, and reflecting; all of which incorporate the development of a whole child.
Mission - How we intend to accomplish our vision:
ADAM represents the children and families of the VCSD as an advocate of dedicated art and music programs, including band and chorus, taught during the school day by certified teachers. ADAM will aid in the process to restore these programs to the Valley Central school budget, by acting as a key stakeholder in the budget process. ADAM will conduct fundraising events and seek grant funding and corporate philanthropy to support art and music education, and will also support an advocacy campaign, including letter writing and petitions, to NYS government representatives to demand public education funding reform.
Until art and music instruction is fully restored in all of the Valley Central School District Elementary Schools, ADAM will work with the School District to determine the most cost effective use of funds to enrich the greatest number of students in the Elementary Schools with art and music programs. The type of programs will depend on the amount of community support and sponsorship.
Who We Are:
ADAM is an organized group of parents, current and former students, teachers and community members. ADAM has many liaisons and supporters, including PTA representatives from each VCSD Elementary School, a Board of Education representative, and a teacher representative from the VCSD Art and Music Departments. We meet monthly, or more often as necessary, guided by a Steering Committee of five individuals.
