The first ADAM sponsored assembly for all of the elementary students took place the weeks of 11/11 and 11/18 at the four schools. This one was a music performance from John Charles Thomas called "Bunch of Brass". They learned about brass instruments and even experienced some unconventional instruments. Listen for music in the hallways!

This ADAM sponsored program is a production of Hansel & Gretel by Tanglewood Marionettes. All staging, scenery, and marionettes are handcrafted and represent a year of construction time. The classic fairy tale features melodies from the Humperdinck opera. An entertaining way to see artistry and music come together. Performances at Berea Elementary on 1/21, Montgomery Elementary on 1/28, East Coldenham on 2/3, and Walden Elementary on 2/7.
The ADAM sponsored hands-on art workshop has begun in our elementary schools! Our students are working on art projects with one of our Valley Central certified art teachers Kelly Brahm! Each grade level is working on a different project; 1st graders are creating a spring-inspired lesson with overlapping grass and symmetrical ladybugs using construction paper. Second graders are learning how to draw themselves, as a figure, breaking out of their stick-figure tendencies; while at the same time, learning about the sun as a light source and how our bodies create/cast shadows. Third graders are creating beautiful spring flowers using oil pastels, then applying watercolor paint on top, learning a technique called watercolor resist. They are also creating a "mosaic-like" vase using construction paper tiles. Fourth graders are reviewing "lines" and using those lines to create a "crazy hair day". They too, are using oil pastels & watercolors, learning the same technique as the third graders. Fifth graders are being given a fun and imaginative prompt that asks them "If they were stranded on a deserted island and could send a message in a bottle, what would be their one request?" They are learning about perspective and using watercolor paint as their medium. Let's get creative!!
